Update March 24, Club to be closed for the remainder of the season
Statement from Board on Closure
Good Afternoon Everyone
It is fair to say that the vast majority of us have never experienced the situation in which we currently find ourselves. Unprecedented circumstances are now upon us and I can assure you that the Management Team and the Board of the Curling Club are working hard for the members of the Dundas Granite Curling Club.
The Board of Directors met and have made the difficult decision to close the Club for the remainder of the 2019-2020 curling season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Board meetings will continue during the closure, and decisions will continue to be made by the Board and Management Team.
At this time, we ask for your patience and understanding in leaving your lockers with their contents. We all know that we are being told to stay at home, except for essentials, and the Board has made this decision not only for your safety, but for the safety of our community. We will advise you when locker clean outs become possible, and how. Should you have an essential need for an item in your locker, then please contact our manager by email.
Please note that the Club will not be refunding any membership fees, as most of the Club’s costs are fixed, and do not change with such a short reduction in the season.
We thank you for your understanding during this difficult time and we hope to see you all again in the fall.
Message from the Board of Directors Dundas Granite Curling Club
Last Chance Bonspiel cancelled
Dear Last Chance Curlers,
It is with a great deal of sadness that we inform you of the cancellation of the Ken Turner Last Chance bonspiel for 2020.
We have reached the point where deposits are required for our caterers and our entertainment. Several area clubs have already announced closures for the remainder of the season, and with uncertainty regarding the length of time that extreme measures may be necessary during the Covid-19 outbreak, we feel that making these deposits would be an unnecessary risk.
It is our sincere hope that we will be able to offer an abbreviated event, either with or without actual curling, to all those who might still be available and looking to celebrate the end of a pandemic! We are already brainstorming ideas for a 1 to 3 day event and will keep everyone informed as things progress.
Cheques have not been cashed for anyone who paid the entry fee in that manner. If you paid by e-transfer, you will be receiving a return e-transfer in the next couple of days.
We would like to thank all of you for your interest in and support of our bonspiel, and look forward to seeing you at the Last Chance in 2021 if not sooner!
Take care and stay safe,
The Last Chance Committee
